Hello from Normandy http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/images/icons/icon10.gif

Do you have information on Hildebrand "Flu" and Willi Kohlmeyer, both soldiers 12.SS Panzer Division.
Perhaps the company SS.58 G-286 or SS Company. 58-286 under the command of Bremer.
Present on the Normandy front in 1944.

Thank you,

58286 is the Field Post Number of the SS-Panzeraufklärungsabteilung 12, the commander of which was Sturmbannführer Gerd Bremer. This unit is the equivalent of a reconnaissance battalion. The abteilung consisted of six companies which includes the headquarters company.

I have consulted the book by Hubert Meyer, Chief of Staff of the 12th SS Panzer Division, The 12th SS: The History of the Hitler Youth Division, in two volumes in English and the German edition, neither of which mentions the two men about which you inquired. I would recommend you buy the book, available in paperback if you are interested in this division.

Hello

Thank you for your responses.
I have in my possession this book.
Both men were cited in a case of a war crime against an American pilot. It does not seem to have been executed after trial.

Another book worth checking into is Blood and Honour: The History of the 12th SS Panzer Div, 1943 to 1945 by Craig W.H. Luther. An excellent read. Unfortunately the names you seek do not show up in the name index, but maybe the incident does? Do you have a date for this alleged incident?
