At last a book on Australia's top scoring ace, Clive Caldwell, has been published. It's by Jeffrey Watson and the ISBN is 0 7336 1929 0.

Caldwell throughout his life refused to allow any book be written about him - a result of his bitterness over his Courts Martial stemming from the Barry Commission into booze running at the end of the war. Which followed on the footsteps of the Morotai Mutiny in 1945.

Up untill now his wife has honoured that request. But, fortunately for us, she has relented and has provided a wealth of information to would be authors.

Watson's book is the first and it's not bad. But it does have the air of a rushed job about it, with several mistakes contained within it. Nevertheless it is a fascinating look into a very complex man.

Well worth the read.
