I got a phone call today from Dave Brocklehurst of the Kent Battle of Britain Museum in Hawkinge. He advised me that Mike Llewellyn, MBE, the main man in preserving the site of the old Hawkinge airfileld in Kent, and founder of the museum there, had died. This is what is posted on the museum site:
"Mike Llewellyn M.B.E

The Trustees and Volunteers of The Kent Battle of Britain Museum Trust are sad to announce that Mike Llewellyn M.B.E, Founder and Curator of the Museum, has died after a long illness, on 16th October 2013 at the William Harvey Hospital, Ashford, Kent. Further details regarding his funeral, and a subsequent memorial at the Museum, will be announced in due course. Thank you."

The funeral is next Wednesday, 6th November, the cortege starting from the museum at 1:15 for the cremation service at 2:00.

I am posting this on the forum to notify members, and to record Mike's contribution in preserving a small part of our history.
