Although few may have realized, today we finally pass Server.com for good.
One of the main (and serious) limitations of the free forum provided by Server.com was its 2000 post limit, which meant that old material was deleted to make place for new stuff.
Needless to say this meant that the forum itself could not keep good material for future use by the community. Luckily there were those who kept archives, but that was never an in house affair - always very much appreciated, but never a guarantee.
Time will tell how big the current dbase can become before it creates any problems (performance, back-ups etc), but as far as I can tell there are no serious limits to it becoming 10 or even up to 100 times as big as it is today, the real question being if we really want or need it to be that big in the first place.
Most of the time it is fun to host this forum.
