Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Hello,
Post #358, does anyone else read the GI’s location on the back of several of these photos as being outside of Stotel? (53.445368 8.596309). Thanks in advance for your input. Respectfully, Steve Sheflin |
Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Dear Steve,
Either one reads "hotel" or - correctly so IMHO - Stotel, close to Cuxhaven. Thanks for pointing this out. Cheers Marc |
Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Interesting Ju87G-2 with flame dempers and 37mm flak 18. Found Munich June 1945 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-WWII-Photo-Album-USMC-Marine-Germany-Africa-France-Normandy-German-Flag/272858444845?hash=item3f87a1742d%3Ag%3A9VAAAOSwAGl ZxUsU
( also a Bf109 intact on the autobahn) scroll to last pictures. Graveyard http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-WW2-SET...AOSw%7EoFZxTin |
Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Thanks for the Munich and Hofoldinger Forst shots; the Bf 109 was the only one found a that location. It was later towed to Brunnthal and scrapped there: https://www.flickr.com/photos/280920...7631643557344/
As for the boneyard shown in the second batch of pics, they do depict Fw 190 D-9's and a lone Ju 87 D wing. Location has been ID'ed by Steve Sheflin as Stolten, close to Cuxhaven, Norther Germany. Cheers Marc |
Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Thanks Marc. Always good to know more, and to connect the pictures. Well done.

You’re always welcome, Michiel ! Thanks for your dedication in chasing those rare pictures.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
I believe the Stuka is Ju 87 G-2, W.Nr. 494200, photographed frequently with its location given as Pilsen.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
I think that the Fw 190D-9s in #358 and #363 must be unfinished Fw 190D-13s from Weserflug!
The visible fuselage has the flat cover in front of the wind screen and the fire wall behind the engine has the missing middle part because of the engine mounted MG 151 gun. |

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Snautzer,
AFAIK the He 111 is not a captured aircraft, but belonged to the Sonderkommando Junck. See https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonderstab_F Cheers, Roger |

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
A number of this seller's photos have been printed on multiple occasions and passed out to veterans as souvenirs as I've seen quite a few of these over the years. Doesn't necessarily make them any less interesting.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
I believe the upper two photos of a Ju88 show british captured "HM509" with No.1426 flight, ex Ju88A-5, WNr.6073, M2+MK of KüFlGr106. The remainder of the original registry "M2" is barely visible left of the fuselage roundel.

that is a riddle to me too. It looks like a He111 and could be a G type with DB600 engines. Of Interesst is also the FdF embleme. Edit: It is identified by Gerhard Stemmer as He111G-2, WNr.3365, DLH D-ADBX, FdF PF+UR. See the topic at LRG: https://www.luftwaffe-research-group...st.4033/page-2 |
Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Hi there! From an old correspondence with Peter Achs I got the info that this is He 111, Werknr. 3365, D-ADBX (ex PF+UR), used by the F.d.F. and flown to Salzburg in the last days of war by a pilot named Zwyna.
There are some unclarities however, as the site stammkennzeichen.de has the Werknummer of PF+UR as 3229 (On the other hand, the site also lists this plane as a H-variant, while it is obviously a He 111 G). I leave it to others to shed more light on this, though... |
