Re: eBay: Allied intrest
The RCAF 118 Squadron photos were taken in Canada. Sent to the UK in Nov 1943 and became #438 and traded its P-40s for Hurricanes.

No the NAA 64 was not a Texan/Harvard/AT-6. It had fixed gear for instance which the AT-6 lacked. Its closest USAAC/USAAF relative was the BT-14 Cheers Stig |
Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Hi all,
photo of Hawker Hurricane Mk. I P2907 with code B (or maybe E, but B is better option): https://www.ebay.de/itm/MD195-Foto-W...75.c100623.m-1 It looks like German soldiers have coats and are warmly dressed (autumn 1940?) or the soldiers are from motorcycle units, which use similar type of dress (Wehrmacht uniforms are not my strong area). Only info about this serial number I have from this link about 615. Sq: https://615squadron.aviationaoi.com/en/17-may-1940/ That's I´m looking for more information about this Hurri. Thanks Faenor |
Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Mark Sheppard answered this on Facebook
“From a French site and translated. In the morning, several sections of No.615 Squadron take off from Moorsele for perform various patrols, the details of which are known to at least two of them. Thus, the three pilots detached from No.229 (RAF) Squadron (Pilot Officer John E.M. Collins, Malcolm Ravenhill and Victor B.S. Verity) take off at 05:30. According to the combat report from Pilot Officer Malcolm Ravenhill (P2907): "I'm flying zig-zig in the direction of Brussels. My section leader attacks a Henschel Hs.123. A strong anti-aircraft defense forces me to turn to the right (No. 3 follows me, but we lose contact with the leader because of a radio frequency problem). A few minutes later, I see (at 6:25) an isolated enemy unit patrolling along the Meuse. The plane is wearing a brown and green camouflage above and a paler green below. I attack him from behind taking him by surprise. He dives to the ground, emitting a black smoke, before straightening near the ground. No defense shots since the rear. As I watch, I see another similar device and I attack it immediately. AT about 180 meters, the rear gunner opens fire and I see bullets heading towards me. I continue to approach, up to 90 meters, before firing a long gust, before turning just 9 meters of the enemy apparatus. The Henschel Hs.123 turns immediately, crashing to the ground. I discover, then, that I am alone. I decided to continue my patrol west of Brussels. I decide, finally, to land in Compiègne where French people inform me that I'm actually 50 kilometers south of Lille. I take off, therefore, with the goal of joining Vitry-en-Artois, but I find myself quickly lost over a wooded area and finally decides to a forced landing in a field after a fuel failure. I am received, on the spot, by the local police of Forges-lesEaux, and I join Poix aerodrome by road before boarding a plane for Abbeville.” |

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
My view on that Hurricane is that it's from a squadron that painted its emblem on the fin flash, look how the centre portion has been 'souvenired'.

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Hi,
A quick look in an old ebay auction brings two interesting info : In 2005 this KW-B could show the serial 2607 and it is the same a/c available in the IWM file (#381). The broken propeller and the "B" are identicals of the actual ebay auction. (#379 and following) Attachment 17489 In 2013 we had a Hurricane coded KW and the caption I had ( from the seller ?) was Forges-les-eaux. Attachment 17490 HtH Bertrand |
Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Bernard I am sure 2nd photo different Hurricane as no houses in background in original

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Hi,
The second photo in post # 383 is of course another Hurricane and could be the a/c lost at Forges les Eaux and not the P2907 as told previous. Bertrand not Bernard |
