Quite possibly the individual aircraft and 3.Staffel code letters, omitting the unit identification.

The Ju 88S-3 was most likely an aircraft from 3./KG 30:
- the unit was equipped with the S-3 from June until August 1944
- the unit was based at Le Culot in Belgium, they flew some missions from Paris-Orly during early August
- since 1943 the last two digits of the unit code were repeated at the top of the rudder by that unit

Thanks everyone for trying to identify the unit of the Ju 88 in #1265.

Hi RudiS,
Your post #1273 illustrates an abandoned engineless Bf 109 K-4. Among its defining characteristics are: “K” wheel doors, the 4x sockets for its DB 605 D electrical connectors are barely visible on its firewall, large upper wing bumps, and open “K” tailwheel doors.
Respectfully,
Steve Sheflin

Hello RudiS, and thanks again for your hard work,

Regarding Post #1276, unless I am mistaken this photo was taken at Fl.Horst Landau-Isar (R-69, near 48.725000 12.695833) and that is Bf 109 G-12 22+ white visible in the background. Interestingly, 22+ white features the KG55 Griffon crest on its port cowling.

Respectfully,

Steve Sheflin

Hi Steve,

Effectively, on other available picture, the Arado is visible in far background.
Another much more interesting detail, if ever, is the fact that code number "Weisse 22" is situated at the right of the "black" cross; reading from left to right.
I.e. the cross on starboard is situated more aft on fuselage (or more forward on port) due to lesser space left by G-12 canopy.

Regards,
Franck.

PS; This feature raising a doubt concerning application of unit markings on that period machines for which only one side is known ;)

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Correction: Landau-Isar is actually an Einsatzhafen.

Respectfully,

Bf 109 G-6/AS or G-14/AS, Germany, Spring 1945.
