On 109s, the chevron-circle was the maring of the Technical Officer, placed forward of the fuselage cross.

That's all I can think of it - the aircraft of the TO.

Yes, but that wasn't my question.
I think It should be better to ask if this KG53 He 111 ( I don't think it is a JU 88) for which the WNr. is perfectly readable was, or wasn't, a Stab machine; if yes, of course it was TO machine. ;)
