Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
The Fw 190 in #683 is in fact a Fieseler built Fw 190D-9 from III. /JG 26. I think it’s at least shown in the JaPo Fw 190D vol. 2 book.
|
Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
#683 does not pass as D-2 xx0032, rather in my opinion: camo and details seems be Ju 188 A-3 of III/KG 26 (1H+HR) . Besides Ju 188 with xx0032 are known other type (F-1 BMW 801 engines) and known Pocking with no weaves.
but if 1H+HR at Schleswig, then new code. |
Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Thanks Micke and EdNorth, for your addenda/corrigenda; much appreciated.
Further to post 682, this Me 262 is W.Nr. 110 506; information courtesy of Franck Benoîton, over on German airplanes from the Second World War group, FB. Cheers Marc |
Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Is that an anti-tank cannon mounted under the wing in post #680?
Ed |
Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Yes, Ju-87G, it had one under each wing and was put to great effect by Hans-Ulrich Rudel and others.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
An excellent find. The He 111 seems to be the KG 26 machine mentioned here: http://www.ghostbombers.com/dragoon/usn19.html (Unfortunately, the link to Paul Mathevet's page, where I found the details, no longer works).
The Ju 88s are probably from KG 26 too, but there are many possibilities: http://www.ghostbombers.com/dragoon/appx1b.html |

Post 697 - Boneyard
The wing suggest a trainer of some sorts plus the style of the STKZ markings SY+A? to the right showing the crumpled fuselage. The STKZ of the wing ??+AB. I would suggest that this is a Bu181C-2 - SY+AB. Does anybody know the location? |

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Hello Snautzer and Tom,
Thanks again for the postings and data. Regarding Post #697, If this is a Bü 181, then I have the following nearby Zlin/O-built aircraft: Bü 181 C-2 (WNr. 331434) St.Kz. SY+AD Bü 181 C-2 (WNr. 331443) St.Kz. SY+AM Probably making yours: Bü 181 C-2 (WNr. 331432) St.Kz. SY+AB. My records show that the 100th BS, 100th BG was at Neubiberg, and probably other nearby bases. Respectfully, Steve Sheflin |

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Mark,
We might well have one of the 10 Bf 109 G-2 or G-4 found at Bizerte - Sidi Ahmed for which no tactical markings were recorded. Cheers Marc |
Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
I have seen one photo of several Bf-109s removed from a visible railway tunnel by American troops. They were painted with a mottled pattern near the top, but the photo was taken at an angle where no fuselage markings could be seen. No location was given.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes
Quote:
No tactical markings doesn't mean that can have a possible "match" with these "Winkel 2 + - " and "Winkel 2 - + - " ... Among those "10" we have: one 6./JG53 one II./JG51 one 2.JG77 ... with a JL marking, not a code but a marking Left Ausgebrannt and Schrott machines with no indications ... Left the machine we are talking about have a well readable marking . ... And you are making a very short cut between "Bizerte" and "On the road between Tunis and Bizerte" ! And it's not exactly the same meaning ... You don't know the road this caption does indicate, you don't know if the actual possible roads did exist during 1943 and you don't know which one they took between Tunis and Bizerte. ... "Between Tunis & Bizerte" doesn't mean Bizerte and on the road between them you can find La Marsa, Mateur, Chaouat, Jedeida, Karouba, Cebalat (La Sebala) ... and so on. All fields where machines have been found - with or without code. Last, one "Winkel" of II./JG53 have been found at La Marsa and it's the only one we have in the list... and it happens, TWO have been pictured at the same place and one of them was 18031. And yes, one, <2-+-, is not in the list .. but on pictures. So, La Marsa. Cheers! |
