Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Thanks Ed
Very nice find of Austrian aircraft in 1937-38. Not sure if the seller, Oliver Rogge, is trying to set a new world record in silly headlines, or what. Jeeeezzz:mad: Seems he thinks Austria had recently been to war and captured a large number of aircraft. The original photographer had a specific liking for the Caproni 133 and in particular DNr 34 which we can see after it had crashed near Aigen 24 Feb 1938 and also being dismantled and taken back to base Other photos are of Avro 626, Focke Wulf 58, Junkers 52 (OE-HKA for those wonder what it says on the fuselage) and so on. Very rewarding photos Cheers Stig |
Re: eBay: Allied intrest
You're welcome Stig. The seller is confused about what he has. Thank you for the additional information.
Best, Ed |

Three more! Pity the original photographer concentrated on people instead of the aircraft.... Cheers Stig |

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Thanks Col
Not many points to the seller of the photo....378 Sq (never existed) and crash date the 29th (wrong). Well, Spitfire and Nijmegen are correct, so perhaps one should be satisfied with two points out of four?? :D Cheers Stig |

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Ed,
https://www.ebay.de/itm/2-xFOTO-FLUG...EAAOSwd0tdne2g Many thanks. You have found the culprit at last..........the German who cuts the serial numbers from RAF aircraft making it impossible for us to identify them ! This is Blenheim V5595 YH-P of 21 Squadron, lost on 18 July 1941. Shot down by ship's flak off Gravelines. Years ago there was another EBay image of this wreck showing the serial number before it was cut out. See also 'RAF Bomber Command Losses 1941' by Bill Chorley. Regards, Martin Gleeson. |
Re: eBay: Allied intrest

No serial number is visible (to me at least), but the code of the aircraft must be either RE-Z or RF-Z, ie 229 Sq or 303 Sq. Cheers Stig |
Re: eBay: Allied intrest
Hi,
With the top of the fin crumpled drift, my 2 euros that's the RE-Z, V6704 of B. Mc Hardy (229 sqdn) who overturned with its Hurricane on October 26, 1940. Old ebay photos showed this a/c just after the crash and the English pilot POW by German soldiers Bertrand |
