Flying low over the sea looking for Lawson and about to return home 19 Squadron was attacked by 10 Me 110 of II./ZG 76 - the German formation had the hight and flew in a circle. |

Yes Alex, you are right, ROB digged out the Lawson file and ancient thread, who gives all answers ( claims, losses, pilots names, serial numbers, etc...) PS. I know FCL has Stuart = P8243; Edmonds = P8668. but I also have an unknown reference that says Stuart = P8668 Edmonds = P8243 |

An old thread, I know!
However, have been looking at the ORB on this incident and have a query. Rob Van De Nieuwendijk says that the 110's had the height advantage. Certainly 19 Squadron were down at 1200ft looking for "Farmer" Lawson but the ORB goes on to say that the 110's were at 500ft. Is this a typo and should it be 5000ft? Or an error in my transcription? In view of the fact that the 110's were in line-astern and attacking a smoke float I rather favour the 500ft figure unless Rob or anyone else knows differently? |
