Hi Greg,

yesterday I sent a letter to the German Night Fighter Organization. Asked them whether they know something about Schmidt.
Best regards
Rolf

Hi Rod,
the combat report must be available in the Military Archive in Freiburg/Germany. Do you have any clue in which binder I have to search in the archive?
Thanks in advance
Rolf

There are several enteries on this site for Ronald Eric Casterton, I would like to find out more about him and what happened to him. He was my father and I lost contact with him when I was about 12. I now know that he died in March 2003 but would like to see if there is any more information about him. I did not know anything about his life in the RAF and both my son and I would like to find out more. Thank you for any help you can give us.

I presume you have seen that the codes for this Halifax were Z5-C in Bomber Command Losses 1945

There are Family History references to a Ronald Casterton. A Death registration for 22nd March 2003 in Nottingham is for the Ronald Casterton born 1st June 1922, born Basford, Nottingham. He married a Jane Cunniff in 2nd Quarter 1950, still in Basford.
There is a separate record for a Ronald E Casterton born 4th Quarter 1922 in Oldham, Lancashire. The two accents should be quite different, if anyone could remember his voice...!!
I don't think you have enough posts to use the PM facility. Perhaps a Mod could oblige by facilitating an off forum contact? You should be able to contact me by email by clicking on my user name and looking for an email or PM link....
Presumably you lost contact before 1973?
It may be worth you taking out a free 14 day trial on Ancestry, or a month subscription..
Say no more......
