Re: SPAM ON THE FORUM

My apologies for the slow reaction (spare time now much absorbed by lovely little baby boy - Luca), but this is the first time a spammer used PM to spread his/her message.

I'll have to look into the best way to curb this type of activity, but it will be difficult to block completely. Sending me a PM is best, sending e-mail to my forum domain account is not (I will be changing/blocking that E-mail address soon due to, yes ironic, spamming).

Most people limit their PM activity to a couple of messages daily, so the best cure would be to limit the number of PMs you can send per minute / hour.

Nick Beal and John Beaman can only monitor and act when spammers are active on the forum, once PM is involved it is purely my responsibility.

Re: SPAM ON THE FORUM

On one very large forum where I am moderator, members have limitation in sending PM. Simply if they don't reach some number of post they could not send PM. Maybe this could have effect here as well on any other forum.

Hi all,
I just received the same PM today from Jesse and deleted it and added them to my ignore list BUT like other Spammers can they have some form of probationary period prior to posting or PM'ing?

Regards
Peter

Re: SPAM ON THE FORUM

Nick and I regularly "moderate" the forum, but we do miss things. We usually do not completely remove a post (which we can do) so Ruy can look at its source for blocking the sender. However this is difficult as they come through multiple hosts and IPs. We'll get them eventually.
