KTB III./KG 53

Erfolgsmeldung Nr. 2, 19. August 1944

Anzahl: 15
Typ: He 111
Auftrag: Versorgung im Pl.Qu. 19285
Startzeit: 03.57 - 04.40 Uhr
Landezeit: 06.50 - 07.30 Uhr
Angriffszeit: 04.53 - 05.30 Uhr
Verluste: 1 He 111 Besatzung Uffz. Finis vermisst (A1+LR)

I don't have any information for II./KG 53 from this period. Some crews served in TGr. 30 but III./KG 53 acted independently. In late August III./KG 53 was withdrawn from combat operation and transferred to Woisselsdorf (Silesia) to train for attacks with V-1s missiles (codename FZG 76).

In fact crew of Uffz. Lechner landed in A1+NS in Romilly due to Motor Defect. Take-off 02.25, Supply Drop 03.05 (200 meters, Supply Load: 5 Otto Kraftstoff Behälter), Landing Romilly 05.15. According to KTB German Airmen were not injured or killed during landing. Maybe during way back to unit on ground?

KTB III./KG 53

According to Erfolgsmeldung Nr. 4, 22. August 1944/h, there is an other personal loss during Supply Flight to PQ 00888 (05 Ost).

Über Ziel keine Abwehr. Bei Rückkehr über dem Landehafen Le Bourget ein fdl. Nachtjäger im Angriff. 1 He 111 Beschuss...

1 He 111 infolge Beschuss in Santhofen gelandet (1 Verwundeter an Bord).

Probably it could be plane A1+ER (is not detailed note), crew of Jakobs.

Michal,

Thanks again for the information. The NVM shows that Uffz Lechner and three of his his crew were reported missing after safely landing the aircraft. I assume they were reported missing while being taken back to Le Bourget by car. I could not find any mention of a member of Uffz. Jakobs crew being wounded on the NVM's or in the KG53 book perhaps a very slight wound,

Regards

Well, I am only quoted documents from KTB III./KG 53 :)

I would be interested if during night August 21/August 22 1944 some Allied Night Fighter claimed Victory or Damage Aircraft over Le Bourget A/F.

Hello

Thanks a lot ! If anybody would find a more precise place regarding S3+HH crash...

Best regards

Re: He 111 loss 22nd August 1944 France

NVM gives Paris as crash location for S3+HH. A letter from Volksbund gives place of death of Uffz Follmann as Paris with original burial at Maysel/Oise, north of Paris?
