Hello All,
I have just received an email from Theo, confirming that everything is now ready and the book will be published in a few weeks time. I, for one, can't wait!
Regards,
Andy

Dear All,
As there has been interest in (and confusion over) Theo's new book on this forum, I have up-loaded PDFs of sample pages on our server to give an idea of the scope and scale of the work. This can only be accessed by putting in the web addresses below - it is not intended to be accessed by the public:

Introduction (including sources and acknowledgements)

http://www.redkitebooks.co.uk/aa/twe...JWDsample1.pdf

16-17/12/43 to 31/12/43

http://www.redkitebooks.co.uk/aa/twe...JWDsample2.pdf

1/4/44 to 23/4/44

http://www.redkitebooks.co.uk/aa/twe...JWDsample3.pdf

The book has undergone many changes on its way into print. Its correct title is now 'Nachtjagd War Diaries - an operational history of the German Night Fighter Force in the West'.

Volume 1 covers the period September 1939 to March 1944.
Volume 2 covers the period April 1944 to May 1945. This volume has been co-authored by Rod Mackenzie.

The final design of the covers and further details can be seen at:
http://www.redkitebooks.co.uk/index....futurereleases

Publication is scheduled for 15 November 2008.

Hope this is of interest and clears up any confusion.

My Uncle was lost on ED862P on the night of 29th July. Name was Sgt D.C. Fentiman.
Does the publication you mention give any details of the Helmut Lent kill that night?
Thanks

Barry Fentiman

Yes, in Volume 1 of Theo Boiten's "Nachtjagd War Diaries", Lent's kill during the night of 29-30 July 1943 is listed as a Lancaster, probably ED862 of 97 Sqn, which crashed in the North Sea, 20km north of Ameland. The time is listed as 02:10 and the altitude as 3800m. It was Lent's 73rd kill.

I also checked Peter Hinchliffe's "The Lent Papers". It provides the same time and place for the kill, but the Lancaster's identity is listed as "unknown".

No additional details, unfortunately.

Are the NJG on the eastern front covered in these two books and not just the RAF raids?
