Hans: yes, very interesting indeed. The Arado was bigger and heavier, therefore had a greater landing speed: well, that's fairly obvious. The comments on view for the pilot was relevant, but there has to have been a compensatory benefit from the closed, and considerably larger, cockpit that was not brought out. The Arado's bigger payload, and firepower, was presumably not relevant to the Pinguin's mission. The lesser range would be. Nothing is said about the Arado's superior top speed and (possibly) general performance - but again this will not have been relevant to Pinguin. I suspect the Arado was quite a bit thirstier, too - but leaked less oil.

Yes, I clearly was thinking too much in terms of a general comparison of the two, rather than their specific requirements for the role.

Excuse me if I have missed something important. I can struggle my way through aeronautical German but am not fluent.
