I have a question about this fellow's story line. There appears to be some confusion as to when and how he lost his arm. Was it during the 18 May 1940 shoot down or in 1943. Although its not stated in the Battle off France write-up, it is implied that it happened in 1940 as after that his positions were staff jobs (ie: not flying). It would also be helpful to confirm which arm was affected.

To answer your questions. Yes, he did lose an arm in combat on 18th May 1940. And from the photo below, taken at Otto Hintze's house in June 1984, you can see that it was his left arm. http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/3...rddelsaku5.jpg |
