Re: Ju 88 T-1 StKz GI+WY?
S Sheflin: Checked again in CEA 244 : it lists BMW 801 G-2 No. 312403 (dated 6.5.44) . Regarding DLH Staaken (Deutche Luft Hansa, Staaken): One BA-MA source has this as ´Reparaturbetrieb der DLH Staaken´ (details accident of D-1 1389 also in conversion to T-1) or as document on the T-1 1407 shows "DLH Hauptwerkstatt Staaken". I do not know three letter code (if any).
Peter: This CEA report also shows GI+WY (but I am not saying it may be the correct one). The letter in question on the card photo (supplied by Remi) can be dirty or smudged, leading to it be read as GI+.. but CI+.. "perhaps fits better" in line with others in that period, as next block was CN+.. and previous perhaps CE+.. Thanks to all others too. It just shows us so well that co-op can set things straight and be entertaining as well :) |

Here's the information from A.I.2(g) report No. 1615, complete with engine Werk Nummern.
It was shot down by W/O Hally in Spitfire Mk. VIII JF584 of "C" Flight, No. 256 Squadron (based at Senia, Algeria) on 3 July 1944 at 21,000 ft., 25 miles due North of Oran. Hally was airborne from 13.15–14.15 hrs. (local time). Source: National Archives AIR27/1524. |

And this is W-Nr. 1407 at Merseburg. There were also flights in March 1944.
