Hello!

Memorizing wrongly. The Pori logs do not cover as early as August 1941.

But in the Kenttälentovarikko 2 (2nd Field Air Depot) fuelling lists for German aircrafts in period 1.-14.8.1941 (August) there is only one M8- code: "M8-KC".

The plane was given 1600 liters aviation fuel and 12 kg "Speed-olene" oil in 8.8.1941. As you see in the photos Groth's Me 110 is being refuelled by Finns.

I would attach a digiphoto of the list in question but it is too big to be attached and I haven't program here at home to resize it. The archival code for the file containing the list is T19449/2 (at Kansallisarkisto (National Archives), Sörnäinen, former Sota-arkisto) and the material and photos were sent to me by mr. Pentti Manninen.

This does not need to mean that Groth was flying M8+KC when he crashed.

Cheers,
Kari

No confusion, John. See my post #6 above, which shows that 3863 was indeed an 'E-1'.

Hi, all

I think that we can safely agree that the handwritten 'C' in the loss record is wrong. The original typed entry list 'Bf 110' only.

The aircraft is thus a Bf 110E-1, pls see updated loss record:

Andreas

I have conflicting details regarding Groth and his status upon his death.

www.ww2.dk states that Grabmann was Kommodor of ZG 76 until the Stab changed name to Stab/Jagdfliegerführer Norwegen on 1.8.1941
Groth is then still listed as Kommandeur of II./ZG 76 upon his death.

Obermaier in Ritterkreuzträger Vol 1 (first issue!), says that Groth was intended to take over from Grabmann as Kommodor. Nothing is said that he did.

Anyone who can enlarge this picture a bit and give the full picture?

Cheers
Stig
