Re: Gottfried Dulias paper
Thijs,
Allthough a nice paper to summarize what we know, it does not give any new insights or thoughts compared what was shared on this site 2 years ago. Thanks, John |
Re: Gottfried Dulias paper
Hi guys
For what it's worth I tend to agree with Andreas. It's about time we stopped glorification of aces - these were mainly the 'lucky' guys who survived. Sometimes this glorification has verged on the current tacky celebrity cult that we read about or see on TV every day. They're not real people, in my humble opinion. I am more interested in the ordinary guy who 'did his bit' albeit in the air as aircrew. Others write about Tommy Atkins or Jack Tar but we have chosen P/O Prune. Let's keep it that way! Cheers Brian |
Re: Gottfried Dulias paper
I have to disagree with John on this one! I personally found the paper to be very informative and clarified the timeline/events and locations much better than I could have done using the information on this site, and others to boot. I am usually more into the aircraft and their histories rather than where particular units were at any one time and for me this report brought some much needed logic and, more importantly, clarified the facts pertaining to this matter.
As stated previously, now is the time for any other evidence, for either side of the Dulias argument, to be brought forward. David |
Re: Gottfried Dulias paper
In his book Mr.Dulias mentions as part of his training he made three parachute jumps on a static line from a Ju52, and form what I can follow two jumps free-fall jumps wearing a wrist altimeter. I did not think this would normally form part of a pilots training. Photos of him in uniform show his collar piping as a light colour possibly yellow indicating aircrew/airbourne troops, the collar piping appears too light for the Flak arm.
Whatever comes out about this man he has certainly raised interest in himself. |
