Hi Remi, are these from Flugbuch entries?

Re: Ar 240 loss information
GL+QA was A-01: A-02 was GL+QB, a/c 12 - the entry as B-02 must be an error.
V5 went to Rechlin mid/late 1942 and returned intact, whereas towards the end of 1942 V6 was undergoing repair. Photos show a bellylanded T5+MH. Another little quirk in the type's history. |
Re: Ar 240 loss information
I can give some info on the prototypes and production of the Ar 240 based on the RLM aircraft production programs:
Flugzeug-Programm Nr. 19 von 1.7.1941 giving the status on 30.09.1940: Ar 240V-1 W.Nr. 240-0001 2 x DB 601. Ar 240V-2 W.Nr. 240-0002 2 x DB 601. Ar 240V-3 W.Nr. 240-0003 2 x DB 601E. Ar 240V-4 W.Nr. 240-0004 2 x DB 601E. Ar 240V-5 W.Nr. 240-0005 2 x DB 601E. Ar 240V-6 W.Nr. 240-0006 2 x DB 601E. Only V-1 to V-3 had been delivered and was in the test programme by this date. Flugzeug-Programm Nr. 222 von 1.11.1942 giving the status on 30.09.1942: Ar 240V-2 W.Nr. 240-0002 2 x DB 601. Ar 240V-3 W.Nr. 240-0003 2 x DB 601E. Ar 240V-5 W.Nr. 240-0005 2 x DB 601E. Ar 240V-6 W.Nr. 240-0006 2 x DB 601E. Ar 240V-7 W.Nr. 240-0009 2 x DB 605. Ar 240V-8 W.Nr. 240-0010 2 x DB 605. Ar 240V-9 W.Nr. 240-0017 2 x DB 603. Ar 240V-10 W.Nr. 240-0018 2 x DB 603. Ar 240V-11 W.Nr. 240-0019 2 x DB 603. Ar 240V-12 W.Nr. 240-0020 2 x DB 603. The V-5 and V-6 had been delivered to the Versuchsstelle für Höhenflug in Oranienburg. The remaineder were with Arado Brandenburg in various test programs. By 30.6.42 no production aircraft had left the assembly line. The expected production was: 4 Ar 240A-0 built by Arado Brandenburg with 2 x DB 601E engines. 18 Ar 240B-0 built by Ago with 2 x DB 605 engines. |
Re: Ar 240 loss information
Thanks for the details Seaplanes. I still wonder what ever happened to 0015/16 W.Nrn. Assigned to A-05/06 perhaps and then cancelled due to V7/8 W.Nr. shift?

Re: Ar 240 loss information
I have a listing that places V7 and V8 as 0015 and 0016. It was sent to the author of the Ar 240 Flugzeug profile amongst a list of corrections. It is only typewritten with no specific date and hence has no provenance. It does however provide individual engine number for some of the prototypes, which I have not seen elsewhere, and other information that had not previously been published but has since been confirmed.
I suspect there may have been a reallocation of these build numbers, though the reason escapes me. |
