Re: 1957 awards of Georg Claus
In addition, the Dick Noonan Website (DNW) indicated that the George Claus in question was a Feldwebel; whereas, Moelder's wingman was a Oberleutnant.

Feldwebel Georg Claus
Hi guys
A search through another Deutsches Kreuz in Gold recipients list that I have come across reveals a Feldwebel Georg Claus being awarded the Deutsches Kreuz in Gold on 14 November 1943. This individual served as a Bordschütze with 8./St.G 3 and later possibly with 8./SG 3. Most likely this is the fellow to whom the award in question was issued to. Horrido! Leo |
Re: 1957 awards of Georg Claus
Thanks Leo,
I'm sure that you've hit the bullseye on this Claus. He survived the War, and purchased his 1957 versions of those medals received while on active service. The DKiG and the 2 EKs are nice early examples, as is the Clasp. Great detail on all. Nice to see the original Al Valore medal, and named, too. Thanks to all. Cheers, Bill |
