Hi Chris,

Interesting... and start to be complicated if DF+CC is the original Stkz. DF+CC is supposed to be a Bf109G-1(/R2), WNr.14123...
Maybe a scan of Monogram Close-up 7, page 24, would be helpful here.

Cheers, Franck.

OK I have scanned that page, the picture is not good so the detail is poor. Because of this the Monogram profiler (and the posted Warpaint profile) gave it Yellow 81, in actual fact, it is Yellow or Red 61 with a very curly topped '6' resembling an 8 an understandable with the paucity of image.

Check your emails Franck.

I've scanned it again in very high res and I am ceratin the picture wasn't taken in the summer of 1944 but was taken at about the same time as our eBay image in May 1945. The same Fw190S is in the background and one can just make out the tail and spinner of the III./JG53 or III./JG53 Bf109 next in line.

Greetings all,

Perhaps I missed it in previous postings, but Bf109 9+ I to the left of G-12/AS 14123 DF+CC is a K-4. It is identifiable as such by its repositioned “K” DF loop and fuel filler hatch. Also of interest are traces of what appears to be Werknummer numerals in the lower rudder “K” position, and part of a roughly sprayed “8” or “3” on its rear fuselage peeking out between its RV band and Balkankreuz.

Hello,

No Steve, you missed nothing, it's a K-4.
@Chris: Frankly I don't know what to think. I just wonder if the artist did imagine a G-12/AS or not? In the mean time there is that high fin... and that "Stkz" is quite unusual... Thanks anyway.

Franck.

Steve, you're smack on the money. It's a K-4, probably from III./JG 53 (Black RV).

As to the location of those Bf 109's, it might be Schleissheim: the set of pics on auction do show B-26 Marauders coded K9, 344th BG, 494th Bomb Squadron. This unit was stationned from 15 September 1945 onwards in Schleissheim.

Cheers
Marc

Hi Chris,

Our friend kemon01 did put one scan on his Flickr photostream. It's dated 6/12 but from Chicago we have it this morning!

Here is the picture. At least we see the first one on foreground!

Regards, Franck.

As I said, this picture and the other must have been taken at the same time. You can see the open canopy of the Fw190S.

Hi ChrisS,

"6/12" does concern the day Kemon01 did put the scan on his stream: ie. yesterday. But since he's living in Chicago we got it today. Nothing to do with the date the pictures have been taken.

Bill, AKA Kemon01, is following our little conversations he said...

BRegards, Franck.
