According to Schulz and others from 1/JG 53, the credit went to Rolf Pingel?!

Re: German Spitfire

A glance at the Luftwaffe Experten board would be fruitful , especially allied captured aircraft...especially Spitfires !

Re: German Spitfire

Could be American PRU Spit MK XI MB945 from Mount Farm. On March 1, 1944 this Spit was listed as FTR (failed to return) from a mission to Aschersleben and Brunswick. Pilot was Lt. Franklyn Van Wart, 14th Squadron, 7th Photo Group. He became a POW.

No, it is a well-known example and the serial is given above.

More generally, it is worth a look here: http://www.luftwaffe-experten.org/fo...?showtopic=310

Good info here regarding captured Spitfires, including colour shots of the Mk1 AZ-H and later mark Spitfire.

Hi,

I´m looking of more info about this Spit - who was the pilot during force-landing to captivity and if there are some photos in RAF marking.

Thanks

Faenor
