Re: Seeking date and specific location of FL by Ju87B T6+EP of 6./StG2 on hillside above Moselle River near Trier, Germany, winter 1939-40
Hello,
I have 13 different photos of this a/c incident in the EOE DB. One of them clearly shows the WNr., which was 292. This aircraft will be one of the color profiles in the EOE research project. Would like to know the names of the crew as well, but that is a real long shot. Because we know that several photos of this incident came from the photo album of a member of 8/Flak Regt 14, that was stationed nearby from 16.11.39 to 16.20.40, we can be almost certain that this happened within that three-month time window. The winter weather conditions, leafless trees, etc., support that time window. I'm really hoping to pinpoint the time more precisely than that, however. Thanks for all the help/photos that tell us where this happened. Since we now know there was no airfield on the ridge directly above the crash site, the suggestion that this a/c was on a training mission using the Moselle River rail bridge as a target is an excellent idea. That certainly makes sense to me. I don't believe a II./StG2 KTB for that period survived, so perhaps we'll never know for sure unless some other evidence comes to light. Regards, |
