Re: Willy Tritsch air Victories
Gee, I can't imagine that he'd miss something - that's snark by the way, not as a negative, but of the 'been there, done that' type of remark. After years of doing the same with losses, how many times have I had to re-visit stuff I thought I got right the first time? My eyes, my eyes!! (And fingers - they're only two-inches long now.)

Re: Willy Tritsch air Victories
Hi Guys
My source was the micro films, perhaps Tony woods doesn't have then all. There are several types, most units have individual Staffels listed neatly typed out before the end of July 1942, but missing altitude and place. Then daily sheets are recorded handwritten for all unit on two seperate sheets.....East and West, but January 1944 in the west is missing. Then there are sub lists pre-July 1942 again handwritten containing problem claims i.e A.S.M/V.N.E claims. Then there are claims for each Staffel with only the date and time recorded....so no altitude, place pilot name. Even some of the typed-out micro films are difficult to read due to faint type. Also Tony Woods has written down names not knowing if a particular Staffel has anybody under that name i.e hundreds if not thousands are incorrect, which is to be expected as sometimes the handwritten daily lists are just scrawl, and sometimes scrawl with faint micro films. Many pre-July 1942 individual Staffel micro films are missing i.e almost all of Jg5, some of Zg26, Zg76, Jg51, Jg77 plus others. The most complete unit is Jg53! The micro films recording daily claims become incomplete around November/December 1944, and the last day recorded is 1st January 1945 with a single claim. I think in all I have listed 65,000 claims in all, and there really are not that many missing, I would say the Luftwaffe pilots only claimed 70,000 in all! Micro films also record flak claims, and sometime in the West crash sites! hope this clears up whats available. Kind Regards Johannes P.S I have found 7800 claiming pilots in all, of which 2540 are aces! |
Re: Willy Tritsch air Victories
For what its worth, Obermaier in Die Ritterkreuzträger der Luftwaffe, Band 2, states that Tritsch had a total of 20 air claims. He had 12 by the time of his being awarded the RK on 23.12.42.
