Hella all,

just a little information: According to the Book "Kampfgeschwader 100 Wiking" by Ulf Balke, the He 177 A-3 had the Reg. 6N+IK. The cause of the lost is unknown.

Best regards.
Bernd

Hello Bernd , thanks for that information . Do you have any details where the HE177 was lost or how Herbert Dostlebe came to be buried in Norderney Friedhof ?

Re: 3./KG40 Flugbuch .

Hello,

the only information I can add is, that Herbert Dostlebe and his crew flew a nigth attack on Hull together with 129 further Bombers of the Luftwaffe. They were lost to unknown circumstances. Fhj.Fw. Hans Georg Vollandt, member of the crew, found dead near Ameland on 23.04.1944. Balke pointed out, that the rest of the crew (Hptm Herbert Dostlebe, Ofw. Anton Krebs and Ofw. Johann Konrad) is missing. Uffz. Gustav Neumann was found dead, no further informations published in the book by Balke.
Sorry, that I can not help.
Bernd

Re: 3./KG40 Flugbuch .

Referring to Marc Benoit's post of the sorties flown by Herbert Dostlebe there is a reference to F8+GH for 26 Aug 1941 Bordeaux-Athens.

This must place both Dostlebe and F8+GH as being part of Kdo. Petersen.

I also have the following information regarding F8+GH

Loss 5.9.41 1./KG 40 (Suez) Unbekannt Fw 200 (0074) F8+GH 100%

Hi Andy,

just a little off topic reminder - I've been trying all along to send you a PM - but unfortunately your box is full.

Regards - Rainer

Re: 3./KG40 Flugbuch .

Hi Bernd & Andy ,
many thanks for all your help . It would seem more questions are been raised than answers on this topic . Fw Hans Georg Vollandt's body was found in Ameland which is one of the West Frisian Islands off the coast of the Nederlands . Yet the body of Hptm Herbert Dostlebe is buried in Norderney Friedhof in Oldenburg , but in Ulf Balke's book on KG100 he is listed as missing , the search goes on .
