Re: hans vetter +++21.03.1943
It is not "Hausern" but "Hans am 21.3." (Hans in 21.3.) as Mike wrote.
My explanation to the text on back side of the photo is: Fr Setzer Fw allein 2 x Vergr. 18/24 + 6.K Zusammen 8/2 45 Possible translation: For Mrs. Setzer 2 ea prints of size 18/24 cm only from Fw. Additionally 6 kopies of the whole photo. Ordererd (or to be ready) February 2, 1945. I don't think, that this text has anything to do with the loss itself. Matti |
Re: hans vetter +++21.03.1943
Hi Matti, correct that i And Brian think too, mrs. Selzer let make copies. But another Question came up. Who say that Hans was Killed at 21.03.
For us it seems that a Brother or Sister from Hans wrote the first Text datet April 1943, then Maybe later this Person wrote " ist toetlich abgestürzt 21.03", but who Hans or Cousin Emil, Sometimes later ( 08.02.1945 Mrs. selzer) make the Copies LG |
Re: hans vetter +++21.03.1943
I have no Emil Selzer in my database. The following is possible, although one week earlier date:
1944-03-14, 7./KG 30, Ju 88A-4, 301535, 4D+LR, London, Vom Feindflug nicht zurückgekehrt. Bruch 100 %. Flugzeugführer Ogfr Hasenberger, Rudolf, vermißt Kampfbeobachter Uffz Schäfer, Karl, vermißt Bordfunker Gefr Jakoblich, Friedrich, vermißt Bordschütze Ogfr Hans Selzer, vermißt That is the only loss I have for Hans (or Johann) Selzer. Re: hans vetter +++21.03.1943
Matti thanks for the info.and the clarification on the writing on the photo. The Ogef.Hans Selzer missing 14-03-44 no. 62707/161 was born at Worms am Rhein on 12-01-20 which was also his last home address when he went missing. The Ogef. in Mike's photo appears to be a Beobachter in a Transport unit in 1943, is it likely he would be a Bs in a bomber unit in 1944 and does the no. 62707 help in anyway,

Re: hans vetter +++21.03.1943
Hi Mike,
I see the photo is from an auction are there any other photos/documents that might give further information. I wonder about Frau Selzer if she was the wife or mother of Hans or Emil that would give at least one surname, if though she was the sister of Hans her married surname would not apply to either of them. I would have thought the April 1943 would be when the photo was taken and that it indicates both men were killed in the war. If this is correct then Emil may have fallen before Feb. 45 when the Fotos of the Fw. allein (Emil) were requested. ''Hans am 21-03'' might then apply to 1944 or 45, Matti has already suggested a possible loss for 1944. However if 1945 is a possibility I wonder if this one should be considered ( it would depend on if the name Johannes would be shortened to Hans) on 20-3-45 a Ju52 of I/TG1 crashed killing the crew of Staffel Kapitan Hpt.Lau and his crew no cause or location shown. The 2nd. pilot was a Fw. Johannes Hansen, unfortunately without any further information this is only a guess with only the date, being a fatal crash from a transport unit, and the possibility that an Ogef 'B' from 43 might have progressed to a 2nd Ff and a Fw. by 1945. I must admit to being intrigued to find an answer when a request for info, such as this one comes up, Regards Brian Bines |
