I have just finished reading Tom Ivie's book about the 10PG. The recce F-6s of the 12 and 15 TRS were often bounced by Thunderbolts and Mustangs. Even an aircraft as distinctive as a P-38 was mistaken for German and attacked by over zealous fighter pilots.
