Re: Loss of Mosquito PR Mk. XVI NS656 on October 13th, 1944
Leo, the Luftgau reports usually give a cause for the crash (fighters, Flak and so on), at least for the ones I have (for N Germany). Does your source say what shot down this Mosquito ?

gentlemen,
thanks a lot for your support and interest! Yes, Lt. Sheldon was definitely with the 60. Sqd. SAAF (South African Air Force). They were based at San Severo and were equipped with Mosquito Mk. XVI. So was 680. Sqd of RAF (part of No. 206 Group). So they had the same base, duties / missions and aircraft. I think they used the same mechanics and probably interchanged their aircraft as well. The paint schematic was nearly identical too. See here for 60. Sqd.: http://www.saairforce.co.za/the-airf...uito-pr-mk-xvi and for 680. Sqd. here: http://www.cbrnp.com/profiles/quarter2/mosquitos.htm |

Hello Laurent,
the informations come from the MACR list October 1944. These tables are extracts from the captured German Luftgau reports without stating the causes of the losses. Unfortunately in the „Bruchunterlagen“ the way of destruction is not noted. Regards Leo |
