Modeldad, I remember that on VDM book by Carlsen and Meyer there are other photos where not only Me 110 but other planes have the complete Stkz plus a number. I guess they retained the Stkz but used colored numbers to easily identify the machines ( in the air ?). I can remember 2 seat Me 109 and Ar 96 as example.
