According to the 'K' report for a pilot of I/JG76 on his fifth (undated) mission his unit was supposed to give cover for Fw190 Jabo's but these 190's did not operate that day due to bad weather.

Two aircraft of I./76 were reported missing after a mission to Nijmegen on 24 September. This formation (II./JG 27, I./JG 76 and III./JG 4) took off at 0615 GMT. Plan: "clearing the Nijmegen area of enemy fighters for Gefechtsverband Spaethe (20 aircraft of III./JG 11 and IV./JG 54). Spaethe's unit had its take-off delayed by bad weather and attacked the road bridge from 2000 m. One aircraft belly-landed near Achmer. |
