I will throw this grenade into the discussion:

Kenny was not adverse to exaggerating the accomplishments of the 5th AAF, anytime, especially during the war and afterwards. Even Life Magazine once said that "For once, the Japanese out-Kenney'ed Kenney" in claims.;)
