Well, basically the W 34 was convertible (wheels, skis, float undercarriage), but those delivered to the RLM were ordered and delivered as W 34 Land, See or Land/See, which means that they were deliveres as landplanes, floatplanes or with both types of undercarriages. Some were converted into floatplanes by Junkers. C/n 2867 D-OMYS was delivered as a landplane to the Kommando der Fliegerschulen. What happened later I do not know. I suppose landplanes could also be operated by rescue units for observation, dropping of Life rafs, etc.

Ed, the total number built is rather difficult to calculate (although perhaps easier than for the Ju 88 :D), but you are fairly close. My guess (at this stage, not definite) is 2,068.

For those interested: We are currently working on a book on the W 33/W 34/K 43.

Lennart, Thanks for input. Mostly forgotten W 33, W 34 and K 43, in a book might be interesting, hope some Ju 46 be included :-)
