Hello Horst,

what is the source for this photo?

I first thought about Oberammergau where one Me 262 was found which was left outside during winter 1945/46, but that one was unpainted or just with primer on the tailplane.

Regards,
Roger

It seems it doesn't look like the buildings in Oberammergau (now at the NATO School). I will compare as I will follow a course there in May.

Best regards

the machine seems to be on an elevation
and also next to a small tree so not on an airfield?

@Clint; Yes, do it, if you have the right "tool" to do it, please ...
@Larry; most probably almost under cover in a tree bush ...

That's make me think about a photo I didn't know coming from the same source (Facebook) ...

Regards, Franck.

Yes, it´s Oberammergau. With the Kofel peak in the background, i.e. photographed towards south - the Alps are rather close there. "Oberbayerische Forschungsanstalt" (codename for Mtt development at Conrad-von-Hötzendorf-Kaserne) - now NATO School Oberammergau still today is a terraced area.

Hello,

It may look like the entrance to the mess(erschmitt :D), where there is a pavement. Photo taking is prohibited inside the NATO School but I will ask a special pass :Dbis.

I remember a rather known pic of one 262 on its tail, is this same aircraft? The famous picture of the P.1101 was taken in front of the baracks.
Unfortunately the Laber is now closed but I will have a look with my M/D for the quest of a lost nut there...

By the way, I will come back there for a P-51 too, that's another story.

The fuselage of Me 262A-1a WNr 170072 was found together with P.1101 at Oberammergau. The terraced area can be noticed here:

According to the reports I have linked, Oberammergau in 1943-45 was overcrowded with Messerschmitt personnel and forced labour workers so the barracks certainly haven´t been sufficient. Additional buildings may have been erected when an airfield was built (n.b. with an airstrip long enough for the Me 262!)
