So May 1942 was when the code was changed? Usually codes were changed because two units had the same code, wonder if this was the case.

4 SAAF - Nov 1941 > Apr 1942
230 - ?? 1942 > Dec 1942
57 - after Dec 1943 ???

Have read that squadrons in different theaters of operation could have the same code.

57 Sq Blenheim IV 3.40 to late 40, various Wellingtons 11.40 to 10.42, Manchester c.9.42, Lancaster9.42-5.46
230 Sq Sunderland 3.42-12.42
2SAAF 10.41-6.42

It was normal to have the same codes in use in different theatres, particularly in the later years of the war, but it is more unusual to find the same codes in use at the same time in the same theatre. 245 and 57 are particularly unusual in that the codes have been carried simultaneously for a long time.
