According to Those Other Eagles, Boughton and Hoile also claimed a Ju 88 during the night of 14/15 June 1943 while flying Beaufighter VIf EL187. They had joined 153 Sqn. on 17 March 1943.

Here are 2 claims from P-39 pilots of the 347th Fighter Squadron, 350th Fighter Group following the 26 Nov 43 engagement:

1st Lt. Clyde H. Wilson -- 1 He177 -- damaged

2nd Lt. Louis J. Klass -- 1 Ju88 -- probably destroyed

Below a brief description from Hugh Dow's Data on Flight Operations of the 350th FG in WWII:

26 Nov 1943, MedSea, Taher
"Sqdn (347) was off Ops, most pilots at Reghaia, enroute to Corsica, when 30 plus e/a hit a convoy off of Algeria shortly before dusk. Learning of the attack in progress, Wilson and Klass were able to get airborne and proceeded to the battle area where Wilson intercepted a glide bomber, scoring hits before it disappeared into clouds."

(Prior to engagement) "Klass landed at Taher, bringing mail to the rear echelon from Reghaia. Told of the attack in progress, he accompanied Wilson to the combat area, probably destroying a Ju-88. Attacks were few, and the standard procedure was to hit a convoy within the last hour of daylight and only when e/a could escape from day fighters into clouds".

Thanks-this ties it up nicely as 153 Sqn reported 'Cobras' attacking a He 177
