Hi Ed.
VH is one of the many british RAE (Royal Aircraft Establishment, Farnborough) register prefixes and is a rough equivalent to the US "T-2" code. There are distinct differences though. The other british prefix is Air Min(istry) or AM.
I have checked the site for british military serials, but other then the info that it was ex german Luftwaffe, there was nothing else.

thank you for the links. But unfortunately they confused me more then being helpful. Infact the last two brought up the misleading hint, the #52 at the manhole is the reminicent of Air.Min. 52. But that is not the case.
