Great information, Carl and Nick. Thanks for settling this bird in its complete surrounding!

Cheers
Marc

I was quite surprised at the camouflage scheme since they tended to operate at low level over Normandy. If (a big "if", obviously) it followed the usual 4.(F)123 practice, it would have been "blue 9" with a yellow rudder and yellow panel under the engine (as per ULTRA CX/MSS/T209/183). The ruder in the photo does appear a slightly different shade from the fuselage but of course that could be caused by reflection if it was at a slight angle.

These picture were taken in 1944 end.The couling were changed several times. Check the oil cooler. The Fö 987 type. Its not an early cooling type.if you can check the type fuel "C3" I'm not sure the plane may used MW 50 system

Franck, stubborness is ok (I'm one hugely affected by such "disease"), but not defying logic...! As I said elsewhere, although the angle of the photo doesn't allow to see clearly the area where the "quarter moon" curved panel was applied on the fuselage, that is simply not enough to discard its presence.

It was a lot easier and faster to apply a metal patch on the unused gun throughs, than to remove something that was aerodinamically needed by the smooth but bulged cowl which the plane had mounted as it had received a DB 605AS (the bigger lower radiator is another clear sign of this modification).

Each one of us is clearly entitled to his own opinions, but this case from the start seemed not worth to see something other than an AS-machine.

IMHO, of course ;)

Ah ah

That curve!!

By the way Ferdinando in the list provided by Nick and Carl there is that one:
WNr.26043: 1./NAGr.11; TN+PE; 28-Aug-1944; Ort unbekannt; 100% Bruch; MAAF FIU Rept. 12(F), 04-Sep-44.

Still a Bf109G-6 in Loss list, just 11 days after being sent to Guyancourt ..?

But I guess you know that loss, don't you?

Regards, Franck.

How does 1./NAGr. 11 come into it? This aircraft's data card was recovered by American troops in France, not Italy. W.Nr. 26043 had been taken over by 4.(F)/123 on 13 August and was almost certainly destroyed by strafing at Dijon on 27 August. It was probably "blue 7."

Was this not Bf 109 G-6 Franck ?

I know ME-109 is incorrect writing.

;-)

PS. I publicly protest, am able post "without problems" in Bf 109 thread but Ju 88 thread has technical problem in 5 out of 7 tries.
I too suffer from "stubbornness", but that has helped research the Ju 88 series....

I don't know. This is in a lost list like that. Ask G.Morrison maybe?
