The pic does show either a Bf 109 F or a G. No chance this could be an earlier model. No link whatsoever with the "Moskito" mentioned in the caption...

One does not have to take ad literam what (former) airmen wrote about enemy aircraft types (note valid for airmen of all nations). "Moskito" could mean really any RAF warplane type. However, the year is most probably written erroneously, and possibly could be 1942 or 1943 (as other photos are from this time period).
