The first Fw 190A appeared in 11/42, the last Bf 109 departed in 6/43, although from 3/43 on only a Schwarm of 109s was left in the unit.

brilliant Dennis, that's what I needed to know. Weiss was an experienced FW190 pilot with JG26 so he will have flown a FW190 when they were available :)
