He flew 409 missions, 340 of them as a bomber pilot ... may it be that somebody mistook his nearly 70 non-bomber-missions for kills and other book authors copied that error ever since ?

In "Chronik Jagdgeschwader 301/302 <<Wilde Sau>>" by Willi Reschke the claims that Johannes found are listed, too, minus the first Lancaster claim on 22Sep1943.
