Airfield Vysoke Myto (Hohenmauth) Czech Republic . Aufklärungsstaffel 4.(F)/Nacht was stationed here. Maybe it belonged to this unit. A friend of mine has a spare parts list for Do 17 and told me it was on engine cover.

Mickael, may I suggest that the "L" stands for links as in left (i.e., left side). I agree that there would/should have been only one identification plate on each assembly. In the case of the engine covers, perhaps there were multiple covers (cowl segments) of equal design that enclosed an engine, but unique to the left or right engine, thus marked L (or R). What we may be looking at are two plates from two equal covers off a left engine. I have seen similar Do plates marked with an "R", which I associate with rechts or right side. If the covers were universal on both sides I doubt that L or R would appear. Just a thought…

It's interesting that what seems to be the airplane's WNr is entered on such plates; note, on both plates a "7" overstrikes a "6" for the last digit.

Hohenmauth, thank you for sharing the plates.

Steve

It appears to be W.Nr. 2437. Interesting and rare finding. It should be possible to identify the part with an Ersatzteilliste. The L suggest that it was Links, that is a part which were used in two positions, for example a landing gear door or similar.

Stephen, I'm well aware of the meaning of Links... U phrased it a bit more eloquent than I did.
