Re: Info Needed on Me109 G6 W.Nr. 20451
Hello,
trying to get this straight - and may be contribute... 1. I believe Wolf was on leave from approx August 15th through mid September - that would explain the gap in his Flugbuch. 2. Upon his leave of absence, Uhl flew his aircraft. And crashed. 3. Upon his return to the Staffel - Wolf flew a new aircraft (as a side note the III./JG 52 received 60! Bf 109G-6 during August and September 1943 - 41 factory new and 19 from repairs) - most likely he was performing a test flight in Rall's new kite ( << ) - and had to belly land due to technical problems - damage below 10% - not reported. Unless further information surfaces, the WNr on this bird is pure speculation - it does not appear in any loss record and the WNr entry in the Flugbuch is empty. It was not unusual for pilots which came back from leave to do a few familiarization flights before they were sent into action after a period out of the fray. Just my opinion, but also quite logical?? Regards, Andreas B |

I do not understand your comment.
Regarding 20451, the facts clearly show: Based on Wolf's FB...W. Nr. 20451 was flown by him...until August 15 or so. Records show Uhl flying W.Nr. 20451 (when Wolf was on leave), and crashed 2 days later (August 17th). The next flight (September 22) in Wolf's FB entry shows him flying "<<" (Sept. 22). No werk Number is shown in his book. I am not concerned with the the werk number from "<<" ...but is that was you are commenting on? |
