Re: NSGr.20 Fw 190D loss
My notes from the IWM's microfilms of the Gen.Quartiermeister 6. Abteilung loss records also have Fw 190 G-3, WNr. 160693 of 3./NSG 20 100% damaged at Diepenheim on 12 March 1945, Cause: crash following engine failure.
Never seen a single mention in any wartime source of a D-9 with this outfit. |
Re: NSGr.20 Fw 190D loss
I concur with both Johns on this one.
Being at home, I could consult the file and noticed that the Werknummer and pilot are repeated with the second entry matching all Johns' information. There is an additional note that the loss was due to "combat with 36 B-26s". Any more thoughts on this bit of info? All the best, David PS: Good to hear from you Mr. Beaman! D. |
Re: NSGr.20 Fw 190D loss
I'm glad this puzzle is solved. I've been researching NSGr. 20 for over 10 Years and a D-9 loss would have really confused me. Thanks to all for the clarification to the initial thread.
