Re: Should Ed West stop publishing his lists??

Hello,

as a seller... I never end auctions earlier cause I exactly know wath I'm selling and I know that wath count are just the last minutes of an auction :-)

As a buyer... it doesn't matter how high I'll bid... there will allwayse be someone bidding more than me :-( ... guess who??? :-) ... so there's only one way left to get wath I want... my highest bid to make the seller's eyes get big :-)
The difference between bidding 700Euro and offering 700Euro privatelly is just that in the first case someoneELSE will get it for 710Euro :-( ... in the second case I'll get it for 700Euro :-)

Anyway... private offers are dangerous... it has happened to me twice that the same seller has sold the item to more people... and of course the one living in Germany got it... the one living far away didn't get it... and there was nothing else to do than wishing him to spend my money for medicine and that it wouldn't have been enough...

Is it right? Is it wrong? I don't think it really matters... it's just the way it goes :-)

Happy bidding...

I'm not quite sure what all the fuss was about with this post. As I understood Andreas' post he was simply trying to make everyone aware of something that seems to be happening more and more on eBay and by using Ed's name was trying to ensure a big hit rate - and let's face it, he succeeded - and not somehow question Ed and his lists.

I'm a big fan of Ed's postings - even if some do take time to download on a 56K modem - but I can't see how Andreas' message could be taken as a beat-up on Ed's lists.

Andreas: good points raised

Ed: keep 'em coming!

I agree entirely. Some people did seem a bit shocked to have encountered capitalism on e-bay, didn't they?

I am a bit late on this but wanted to echo to another post about what a great service the WEST LIST is. Although I have only bought a few photos I do enjoy looking and learning since I can not compete with the well known deep pockets that buy up the best photos.

Ed - THANKS!!
