Rolland. Late F-models had Bendix chin turrets, the first was 42-3504 ( 96BG) an F-75-DL re-designated from G-5-DL. The last Fs , block 130-BO had provision for these with a strengthened lower nose profile. Front-line units requested the "cheek" guns be retained in various installations.

Red outline to national insignia indicates June- September 1943

I believe this is actually the wing. Certainly not the fuselage of a B-17.

To Alex Smart: You're welcome Alex.

As far as the art itself, I have been unable to find it. And yes, there were numerous Gremlins: Hitler's Gremlin, Gremlin Hideout, Red Gremlin and others.

I can clearly see the main spar attachment gussets for the right wing so this aircraft came down fairly intact ( bellied or wheels down ) and the wing removed later.

Well, I guess this bird will remain unknown. My thoughts are that it is early 8th AF, though it could be 12th AF also. I believe it was shot down from June-Sept 43, based on the red outline markings. Also the name was part of another name,i.e., Burt's Gremlin, Roving Gremlin, etc. with the first part painted over. I will keep looking though I may never find the answer.

Close up of the Gremlin image. Wonder what the colors are? Also, it looks like he is hitch-hiking.
