The crash was some 32 miles from Easthaven.

Is their any supporting info it was a Firefly he was flying at the time of the crash?

East Haven was No 731 Sq base at the time.
I have nothing else than what is published by Air Britain in their serial number book 1939-45 which links Z2096 crash with S/Lt King.

Confirmation of Z2096 in FAA a/c 1939-1945.
Page 210.
Z2096
Del 15 MU 27.5.44; 731 Sqn East haven, crashed into ground, Cat Z 11.11.44 ( S/L PM King OK, two civilians killed).
