Hello all,

Information from "Close Up" by Jay P. Spencer and from factory drawings.
After production of 23 prototypes, there were :
Ta 154A-0 (from factory drawing) = Two-seat night fighter with FuG 212 radar. 22 completed among them 14 Ta 154A-0/U1 with VS 9 props. WNr in the 120 xxx series.
Ta 154A-1 (from factory drawing) = Single-seat day fighter. No radar. Known WNr (after jay P. Spencer) : 320 001 (KU+SN) 320 006 (KU+SS). Jumo 211F with VS 11 props;
Ta 154A-4 (from factory drawing) = Two-seat night fighter with FuG 218 radar and Jumo 211N with VS 9 props. Two known : WNr 320 007 (KU+ST), crashed on 28 june 1944, and WNr 320 008 (KU+SU) coded D5+HD, found crashed on 6 may 1945 by British troops.

Cheers,

I'm disappointed of the lack of air to air victories by Ta154.

Andreas Zapf, in "Mosquitos ueber Berlin, Nachtjagd mit Messerschmitt Bf 109 und Me 262" does list several operational night fighter sorties by Ta 154s, all of them w/o success IIRC, mainly due to defective radar equipment.

I wouldn't be disappointed with no air-to-air victories-another aircraft that just came too late to make a difference

And I wouldn't be diappointed that fewer people were killed or injured than otherwise might have been.

I photographed the replica TA154 that is on display in an unassembled state at the Luftfahrt Technisches Museum in Rechlin see pix at:

A great looking aircraft, too late to make any difference.

Too late to make a difference, or not very good (not good enough) in the first place. Being cynical I tend toward the latter interpretation
