Re: Another He 162 photo from Pintrest
Stig,
Thank you for the kind words. It is nice to know I'm not alone. Simon, Wow! Thank you for this information. I think 220102 would have been one of the last He 162's from "Languste"/Hinterbruhl which would explain its lack of camouflage. Jim |
Re: Another He 162 photo from Pintrest
Thanks Simon

Re: Another He 162 photo from Pintrest
He 162 E2+53 had the serial 220102. So E3+52 is still unknown. Sorry.

Re: Another He 162 photo from Pintrest
Thanks Simon for correcting yourself
However we now have more problems with these E prefixed numbers. Quoting from Forsyth/Creek's book (which in no way is gospel) E2+51 WNr 220017 E2+52 WNr 220010 E2+53 WNr 220102 E3+51 WNr 220022 E3+52 nothing E3+53 nothing (WNr 220102 as per Simon's mail above) E5+E4 WNr 220103 (odd code! Perhaps one of the above?) Cheers Stig |
Re: Another He 162 photo from Pintrest
E2+53 would be 220102
E3+53 do not exist (typo from Simon for E2+53) E3+52 W.Nr. unknown, more to come... |
Re: Another He 162 photo from Pintrest
Yes, sorry my mistake. Have corrected the typo.

Re: Another He 162 photo from Pintrest
Another photo from Pintrest:
http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/album....&pictureid=656 This photo shows a He 162 with an unpainted fuselage in the aircraft dump at München-Riem. (The row of trees are the same as in other pictures of the Riem dump). The streaking on the fuselage is identical to that on E3+52 which to my mind confirms Simon's statement that the crash occurred at Riem. |
Re: Another He 162 photo from Pintrest
Karoband, this seem to be the same aircraft as in post #1. At another photograph this He 162 is visible behind the well know Fw 190 D, Red 4 from JV 44.

Re: Another He 162 photo from Pintrest
On a related topic. I have two recent He 162 references that mention the late Heinkel production 162 may have come out of the factory in an upper wing with a splinter camouflage pattern of RLM 81/82. W/Nr. 120076- 120230. According to the Airframe Album 13. Has anyone a decent picture depicting a splinter upper wing scheme? Thanks in advance.
